Job Title: Caregiver – Behavioral Health Long-Term Care Setting (Noc Shift)

Pay: Pay: $20.00 to $23.00 /hour

Location: Laurelhurst House ALF/SNC

Position Type: Full-time, rotating 12-hour shifts (6p-6a) w/every other weekend off

Position Overview:

We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and reliable caregivers to join our team in a behavioral health long-term care facility. As a caregiver, you will play a critical role in supporting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) while fostering positive relationships and promoting their emotional, mental, and physical well-being. You will assist with personal care, monitor behavioral health needs, and follow individualized care and service plans to ensure each resident’s dignity and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Assist residents with daily activities, including but not limited to grooming, bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, feeding, and transferring.
  • Behavioral Health Support: Follow individualized behavior and service plans to ensure that each resident’s specific needs are met. Provide redirection, comfort, and encouragement to residents as necessary, especially during times of increased agitation or distress.
  • Positive Interactions: Engage residents with empathy, respect, and understanding to foster positive relationships. Build trust with residents to ensure their sense of safety and well-being.
  • Monitoring & Documentation: Regularly observe and document residents' emotional, physical, and behavioral conditions. Report any changes to the care team promptly to ensure the most appropriate care is being provided.
  • Safety & Environment: Assist with creating a safe and supportive environment for residents by maintaining cleanliness, reporting hazards, and ensuring that safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other staff members, including nurses, therapists, and administrators, to provide a holistic approach to resident care. Participate in regular meetings to discuss care plans and any updates on resident behavior.
  • Crisis Management: Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors, ensuring a calm and controlled environment. Know when to seek additional help from supervisors or medical professionals if necessary.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Previous experience in caregiving or direct care roles, preferably in behavioral health, long-term care, or similar settings.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong patience and ability to engage with individuals who have behavioral health challenges.
  • Ability to follow detailed care plans and adapt to individual needs.
  • Proficiency in basic caregiving tasks such as assisting with ADLs, mobility assistance, and meal support.

Certifications:

  • CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), or a similar certification is preferred, but not required.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Capability to assist residents with mobility and transfer as needed.
