Laurel Institute of Technology is recruiting for an adjunct allied health instructor to teach in their new Cardiovascular Technology program beginning nw classes - January 2024.

LIOT is a ACCSC accredited Institution. Instructors are required to develop, maintain, and update appropriate curriculum to fulfill the training objectives of the corresponding training program. Instructors are required to maintain up-to-date knowledge in their teaching field, maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position, and assist with curriculum assignments. Instructors are responsible for teaching assigned classes as per the assigned schedule following the set procedures and protocols of the College. Instructors are responsible for effective classroom management and are responsible for implementing strategies to ensure the achievements of academic objectives.

The school is seeking an Adjunct - PT or FT - In Person - instructor to teach Allied Health courses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of the Program Director:

Required background: Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technician or Certified Medical Assistant.

Must have completed a training or degree program in the discipline, hold appropriate licensure and/or certification, and have at least 3 years' experience in the field. Bachelor's degree preferred.

The position requires knowledge and experience in the following areas: Lab safety, lab requisitions, specimen collection, proper care and use of microscopes, interpretation of lab results, hematology, and venipuncture and capillary punctures. Familiarity and experience with EKG testing and analysis preferred.

Current Healthcare Provider certification in CPR/AED.

  • Develop, teach, and evaluate students' accomplishment of specific objectives;
  • Coordinate the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in the allied health programs;
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain clinical sites to which students are assigned;
  • Coordinate program goals with other college courses and health occupations programs;
  • Participate in the development and revision of curriculum, program evaluation, and the assessment of student learning outcomes;
  • Participate in professional development activities;
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject-matter area and effective teaching/learning strategies;
  • Work cooperatively with other department members, the program director, DCE and DOE to develop and maintain quality instruction

Position Requirements:

  • 3 years field experience as a medical professional, preferably ultrasound and sonography
  • Current professional licensure or certifications
  • Associate's Degree required / Bachelor's preferred.
  • Ability to use common software programs (MS Word/Excel/Outlook etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Experience using the LMS "Canvas" PREFERRED

Job types: Part time, contract

Pay: $1,875 per course ($25/hour)

Schedule: 5-10 hours per week, depending on course load. AM and PM courses available.
