POSITION OVERVIEW Lauren Services is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer / Lead with strong CADworx and EPCM experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience in electrical design and drafting within the Oil & Gas sector, specifically in an EPCM environment. You will be responsible for overseeing electrical design activities, including the preparation of detailed design layouts and drawings, mentoring junior designers, and ensuring the integration of electrical systems into multi-disciplinary projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Lead and coordinate all aspects of electrical design and drafting on projects, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and timely delivery of electrical layouts, plans, and details.
• Develop detailed electrical design drawings using CADworx and AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and project requirements.
• Provide leadership to junior designers, assisting in technical decision-making, reviewing drawings, and ensuring design consistency across all deliverables.
• Review and incorporate vendor drawings and specifications into project designs, ensuring all required information is accurately represented.
• Collaborate with Electrical Engineers to define design requirements and resolve any technical issues or discrepancies.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including structural, mechanical, and process disciplines, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into broader project designs.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications, including hazardous area electrical systems.
• Provide oversight and quality control for drawing preparation, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to engineering standards.
• Perform design calculations, material selection, and electrical load analysis as needed.
  

QUALIFICATIONS

• Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• 10 years of detailed electrical design experience, with at least 10 years of hands-on experience using CADworx and AutoCAD.
• Extensive experience in Oil & Gas environments, specifically in an EPCM setting, with a focus on electrical design and drafting for large-scale projects.
  
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and review the work of junior designers.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, CADworx, and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with team members, project managers, and clients.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work effectively.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, layouts, and the integration of electrical designs into larger multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience in preparing electrical design drawings, layouts, and material specifications.
• Solid understanding of standard design and drafting practices, with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers and other disciplines to resolve design challenges and deliver integrated solutions.
• Knowledge of electrical codes and standards and the ability to apply them in design.
  

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position offers a hybrid work environment, with 3 days in the office and 2 days optional from home. We support flexibility, diversity, and work/life balance. The role is open to both contractor or employee hourly position out of Vancouver, Kelowna or Calgary offices.
