Description : Job Summary
Under close supervision, the worker operates and maintains trucks and other equipment in support of the Solid Waste-Recycling Division's daily operations. Work involves loading, transporting, and unloading materials and equipment, assisting with basic landfill and collection site maintenance tasks, performing equipment maintenance and repair, and performing related duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the class's type of work as necessary.
Essential Functions
- Operates trucks and other equipment to excavate and compact earth, load / unload materials, pick up materials from collection sites, move / haul materials, and perform other department general or specialized functions.
- Drives and operates roll-off trucks and other trucks, track hoes, bulldozers, woodchippers, pans, compactors, bob cats, mowers, weed eaters, etc.
- Manually loads / unloads materials onto vehicles.
- Inspects equipment to ensure proper and safe working conditions; cleans and services equipment; troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions; and performs on-site and field repairs of vehicles and light and heavy equipment as necessary.
- Repairs collection containers, fences, gates, and other items as required; performs general grounds and building maintenance work as required.
- Assists with landfill operations, including separating recyclable materials and operating weight scale.
- Use hand and power tools, mechanic's tools, pallets, safety gear, cleaning supplies, etc., in various tasks as required.
- Maintains inventory of necessary maintenance and repair supplies, parts, and materials.
- Receives and responds to inquiries and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility.
- Performs all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.
- Receives and reviews work orders and repair lists; prepares work records as required.
- Refers to policy and procedure manuals, equipment manuals, safety manuals, run lists, etc.
- Interact with and communicate with the supervisor, co-workers, other County staff, and the general public.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements :
Required Skills / Abilities
Ability to follow a pre-determined schedule for all pickup and disposal routes
Ability to safely operate the truck and equipment
Thorough understanding of safe highway practices and motor vehicle regulations
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent or two years of experience in mechanical repair work and equipment operations or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must possess a CDL license
Physical Requirements
Mut work in extreme outside weather conditions
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
