What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Law Office of Brett H. Pritchard?
We are looking for an experienced paralegal to be a part of our legal team. As a member of our team, you will interact and build relationships with our clients while supporting our attorneys by completing legal research; drafting documents (including pleadings and orders,) and preparing for hearings and trials. This position requires a combination of empathy, experience, and skill. This position involves assisting the firm in providing a high standard of service to our clients.
You will be working on many cases concurrently and over long periods of time. We expect you to keep track of key dates, keep the correct people informed, and prioritize your time so that we never miss a deadline.
Our clients are dealing with massive stress and anxiety. You should be empathetic and help put them at ease. You should treat a case at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with the same care and compassion as one on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m.
This is not an entry-level position.
Other requirements include the following:
- Have a MINIMUM of 2 years of experience in Texas Family Law.
- Know how to properly draft petitions, orders, discovery, and all the other documents involved in practicing Family Law.
- Be experienced with TXDocs
- Be able to choose the correct documents/forms for preparation and to draft the correct documents.
- Be able to manage and meet multiple deadlines of varying priority levels
- Be organized, creative, and efficient.
- Have outstanding attention to detail and accuracy, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Have experience answering phones and keeping accurate records and messages.
- Have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and operate with strong initiative to meet billable requirements.
Applicants will be required to submit a writing sample on a topic of the interviewer's choice on the date of the interview. All candidates are required to submit to both a drug screening and a criminal background check prior to consideration for employment.
