Local Law Firm in Queens is seeking a detail-oriented and diligent Legal Assistant to join our legal team. This job starts as a part time position, with a possibility of full time employment. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to attorneys by assisting with various legal tasks and ensuring that all documentation is organized and up to date. This role is crucial in maintaining the efficiency of our operations.
Duties
- Manage and Organize e-mail correspondence and office calendar.
- Answer Phone and serve as point of contact with clients, law firms, and outside companies.
- Prepare outgoing mail, UPS and Fed Ex and follow up with delivery as necessary.
- Manage legal files and ensure all case files are accurately maintained within our legal case management system.
- Compose E-mail communication and letter correspondence with clients, law firms, banks, title companies and other businesses
- Coordinate and confirm the scheduling of real estate closings, depositions, meetings, phone calls, etc., and organize any notices, direction and location arrangements associated with these events.
- Prepare correspondence and basic legal documents using templates
- Proofread documents for accuracy, grammar, and compliance with legal formatting requirements.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree/Two Years of College.
- Students currently pursuing a college degree are encouraged to apply.
- Computer literacy and typing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PDF Software, and familiarity with office scanning and printing equipment.
- Candidate should have good attention to detail, organizational skills, interpersonal communication skills, ability to learn software programs.
- College-level writing skills.
- Experience with postal and UPS/Fed Ex shipping.
- Prior experience in a paralegal or legal assistant role is a plus but not mandatory.
