The Law Office of Evan Barrickman, P.C. is seeking a paralegal or legal assistant to join our fast-paced and growing practice. The firm is a mixed litigation practice including general civil, criminal, family, personal injury, among numerous other practice areas.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
General Duties: fielding phone calls from clients and potential clients, greeting clients at the office, screening potential clients, taking detailed messages, and forwarding phone calls. Orderly office operation including mail, calendaring and scheduling client meetings. Other duties as assigned.
Legal Duties: filing, serving, and drafting legal documents including subpoenas, entries of appearance, and other court filings. Discovery coordination with client, drafting and organizing discovery responses. Proof reading court filings and client correspondence. Coordinating with attorneys on exhibits and discovery. Exhibit review and preparation with both clients and attorneys. Coordinating with attorneys for depositions and trial.
Applicant requirements include a high school diploma, valid driver's license, Microsoft Office proficiency, and familiarity with numerous other digital platforms including practice management software, and Google, among others.
Candidates should be extremely organized, be able to multi-task and be able to prioritize tasks depending on deadlines and attorney need. Candidates must be detail oriented, have a positive attitude, have self-motivation, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Prior law office experience is preferred, but not required. A BA degree or paralegal certification and prior law office experience is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train the appropriate candidate.
Compensation DOE. This position has the possibility of significant advancement depending on qualifications and job performance.
