Job Overview
We are a criminal defense firm seeking an attorney to assist with our criminal cases, as well as traffic matters. The attorney will assist at all phases of the case, including, but not limited to, bond review hearings, arraignments, preliminary hearings, status conferences, client consultations, jail visits, depositions, guilty pleas, trial prep and trials. The attorney can expect to appear in court daily on various matters. Also, the attorney will be required to draft motions, pleadings and legal correspondence, review discovery, and assist with client matters in general.
This is an excellent opportunity for the assistant attorney to obtain valuable courtroom experience and grow professionally. This is an independent contractor position. The compensation is $75,000 to $85,000 annually, plus 50% commission on legal fees paid by clients on cases the attorney brings into the firm.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction
- Experience or coursework in criminal law is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to make effective oral arguments
- An interest in advocating for the accused
