Our firm is seeking to hire a full-time legal assistant, specifically with EOIR litigation experience. We practice exclusively in the area of immigration law. As mentioned, the right applicant needs to demonstrate a least some years working with EOIR and immigration court matters from asylums to cancellation of removals.
Applicant must be FULLY bilingual (English and Spanish) and must be a team player, client services orientated, be able to multitask and attention to detail is required. Duties:
- Assist attorney in preparing and filing immigration petitions, applications, and supporting documentation for the Executive Office of Immigration Review
- Conduct legal research using Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw to support case preparation
- Draft legal documents, including affidavits, declarations, and briefs
- Maintain case files and ensure all necessary documents are properly filed and organized
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on case status
- Prepare immigration forms and applications for submission to government agencies
- Coordinate with external parties, such as translators or expert witnesses, as needed
- Conduct legal document review and proofreading to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an immigration paralegal or in a similar role, specifically working in litigation of cases before the EOIR
- Proficient in legal administrative tasks, including file management, data entry, and document organization
- Strong knowledge of immigration law and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to conduct legal research using Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
- Familiarity with legal drafting techniques and terminology
- Attention to detail and strong proofreading skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills for client communication
