Desired Candidate:
I am looking for a law clerk who has excelled academically. A student who has an interest in family law is a given but someone who is willing to work hard. This will not be an easy experience but will be enriching in that the student working with my office will gain valuable experience in not only the practice area but also leadership and management. I would like to have a student who has exposure to litigation in previous internships and/or externships, has taken family law, or pre-trial litigation. Someone who is willing to go beyond the basic obligations if it means that they will be able to network and/or meet other professionals. Finally, I am looking for a law clerk who is willing to give more than 100% effort because that is what they can expect to get in return from my office in terms of contacts, experience, and knowledge. This position has the possibility of extending into the fall semester for the right fit.
The following skills are what I expect a law clerk to develop while working with my firm:
Alternative Dispute Resolution (in the form of mediations and/or collaborative law), Client Counseling, Collaboration, Conflict Resolution, Document Drafting, Fact Development & Analysis, Interviewing, Negotiation, Organization & Management of Legal Work, Self-Evaluation, and Trial Practice.
