Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Legal Secretary to join our law office. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to a sole practitioner, ensuring that all legal documents are prepared accurately and efficiently. This role requires a strong understanding of legal terminology, exceptional proofreading skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within the civil law sector.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorney, including scheduling appointments and managing calendars.
- Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, and correspondence with meticulous attention to detail.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information to assist attorneys in case preparation.
- Manage project timelines and ensure all deadlines are met effectively.
- Organize and maintain case files, both electronic and physical, ensuring easy access to important documents.
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Assist in the preparation of trial materials and exhibits as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar role within a law office environment.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and procedures, civil law is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficient in legal drafting and proofreading with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience with project management tools or methodologies is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal management software is desirable.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role.
