What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant position at Law Office of Russell F. Bergin, P.A.?
Small Law Office in Clermont, Florida practicing predominantly insurance defense for self-insured companies. This is a busy, full-time, in-office position Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with 1 hour for lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Position requires:
-Minimum of 5-8 years of recent law firm experience within the State of Florida, familiarity with legal terms and Florida civil discovery experience, personal injury / insurance defense preferred.
-Must be computer proficient and willing to learn cloud-based case management program.
-Typing/word processing/transcription of digital dictation which may include letters, pleadings, memos, etc.
-Scheduling depositions, hearings, meetings (with Attorney Calendar and JACS etc.) in person, via ZOOM and/or RingCentral.
-Maintain Attorney's calendar.
-E-filing of pleadings within Florida E-portal online program.
-Preparing subpoenas for records, track status and follow up with providers for records and films.
-Assisting in billing incoming e-filings and saving electronic files, emails and attachments to appropriate files.
-Scanning incoming daily mail to file and saving to appropriate file.
-Answering incoming calls for law firm. A professional telephone demeanor and e-mail etiquette is required.
Position will support and assist one attorney and will work closely with the office manager/paralegal.
The ideal candidate will be a proficient typist, have strong proof-reading skills, strong grammar and punctuation skills and be knowledgeable regarding civil litigation. Candidate must be able to hit the ground running, be self-directed/motivated without prompting, with a good attitude and willingness to work and/or learn if needed.
