Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys throughout the litigation process, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and timely. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Duties
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions by organizing case files and evidence.
- Drafting, formatting, and proofing of legal pleadings, including discovery documents, and simple to moderately complex motion drafting.
- Manage document discovery processes, including data entry and document review.
- Maintain case files and ensure all documents are properly filed and organized.
- Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and experts while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Support the preparation of motions, pleadings, and other legal documents as required.
- Schedule hearings, meetings, conferences, depositions, mediations, etc.
- Ability to communicate with clientele, professionally and politely regarding their matters, billing, status.
- Tracking billable hours and assisting attorneys with billing, invoicing, and collections.
Experience
- 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal required (Family Law preferred)
- Electronic filing of Court documents
- Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and documentation is essential.
- Strong skills in document review, data entry, and legal administrative tasks are required.
- Professional and personable to court staff, opposing counsel, and clientele.
- Proficient with Microsoft office software, particularly Word and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 38 per week
