What are the responsibilities and job description for the Contract Attorney position at Law Offices of E.F. Robinson, P.A.?
TRIAL/MEDIATION CONTRACT ATTORNEY DESCRIPTION
This is a contract attorney position for work as assigned.
Scope of Work.
You will be assigned cases for which you will be fully responsible as the Trial Attorney on the case for Mediation, Trials, and contested evidentiary hearings.
Specifically, you are responsible for the following:
1. Preparing the case and representing the client at the mediation/hearings. If it is necessary to prepare any Pretrial Stipulations, Witness/Exhibits List etc., it will be your responsibility to do so with the assistance of our staff who will draft preliminary documents, efile, serve, upload the documents for you, and provide you with other support needs such as scheduling appointments with clients, witnesses, opposing parties, etc.
2. Communicate with the client via telephone, in-person, video conference through MyCase. Document all communications in a summary in the notes section in MyCase contemporaneously.
3. Document the status of the case in the Status Update section in MyCase.
4. Document all work performed in MyCase through the time entry feature so that your work will be billed accordingly.
Compensation Plan.
# You will be paid only for those hours that are considered billable by the Firm as well as your attendance at firm meetings and training which are not case specific. Your pay rate will be $100.00 per hour for billable case work, $125/hr hearings/court appearances. Your pay rate for non-specific firm meetings and training is $50.00 per hour.
# You may bill the Firm twice each month, on the 15th and 30th. You will be paid on the following Friday after the 15th and 30th. Billings must indicate time increments and detailed descriptions for tasks that helped move the project forward for each time entry as recorded by you in MyCase.
# You may invoice the Firm twice per month for firm meeting and training sessions on the 15th and 30th of the month and will be paid on the 15th and the last day of the month.
# The payments issued will be gross amounts without tax withholdings or deductions. You will be responsible for paying Social Security and Medicare taxes as a self-employed individual.
# Additionally, you will be paid 25% of the initial retainer, as a referral fee, as paid by the client, for each approved case that you bring to the Firm.
# Return all communications within 24 business hours.
Support staff will be provided by the Firm.
A desktop computer and other equipment will be provided in the office if you choose to do so but when working remotely you must have your own functional equipment which includes a cell phone. You may use our office number to make your calls if you so desire through our Magic Jack VOIP.
