To provide fiscal support for the Law Offices of the Public Defender. Incumbents in this position will be primarily responsible for assisting with budget preparation and monitoring, and accounts receivable functions. Examine, analyze and interpret accounting records for the purpose of giving advice or preparing statements. High School Diploma or Equivalent and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

- Knowledge of a range of budgetary and financial data related to state government.
- Knowledge is typically gained by some specialized training and/or experience at lower level Financial Specialist 1 and 2 positions, or similar positions, and 24-36 months of experience.
- The nature of work performed may involve some routine analysis and end results produced have a moderate impact on the outcomes of the function in which the work is performed.
- Work at this level may involve providing work direction and guidance to employees at lower levels.
- The work requires knowledge of the procedures and processes applicable to the performance of the work.
- The challenges faced in the position are patterned in nature and the incumbent is readily able to recognize the challenge, recall a solution and apply.
- Act as backup for processing invoices and reimbursements.
- Perform a variety of routine accounting and auditing functions.
- Understand and comply with state and federal laws, rules, regulations, agency policies and procedures, and generally accepted accounting and auditing standards.
- Preparing and reviewing documents and reports for accuracy and compliance with laws, regulations and standards; analyze, appraise, and make recommendations concerning operational/financial policies and procedures of department/agency programs and other entities that interface with the department/agency; and assist with budget preparation and calculating expenditures.
- Prepares, analyzes, and maintains budget and corresponding financial records.
- Conduct business outside of office using state vehicle.
- Creates accounting entries in SHARE for daily deposits.
- Performs related and other duties as assigned.

Salary : $42,453 - $63,690
