About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Law Intern to join our Elder Law practice. This internship offers hands-on experience in estate planning, wills and trusts, guardianship, Medicaid planning, and other legal matters affecting older adults. You will work closely with attorneys, clients, and support staff to gain practical exposure to the field of elder law while developing essential legal skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys in legal research, drafting documents, and case preparation.
- Review and organize legal documents, including wills, powers of attorney, and advance directives.
- Conduct client interviews and gather relevant case information.
- Support attorneys in Medicaid planning and guardianship proceedings.
- Help draft correspondence, memoranda, and legal summaries.
- Attend client meetings and court hearings (as permitted).
- Perform administrative tasks such as file management and data entry.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in law school (1L, 2L, or 3L preferred).
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Interest in elder law, estate planning, and public policy.
- Ability to handle sensitive client information with discretion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
