Medical/Orthotic Assistant (1 full-time positions available)
Fast growing and employee friendly company, with an exciting opportunity for a full-time Medical/Orthotic Assistant in our Hershey, PA location; Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.
We are seeking a candidate who wants to work in a friendly and safe office environment. In this vital role, you will play an essential part in enhancing patient care by performing both administrative and clinical tasks. This includes assisting with the fitting and maintenance of medical braces, prosthetic limbs, arch supports, and other orthotic devices. This position is ideal for individuals with a background in physical therapy, kinesiology, casting tech work, orthopedics, or retail shoe sales.
Role and Duties:
- Conduct fittings for braces, ensuring optimal comfort and effectiveness.
- Maintain and repair orthotic and prosthetic devices as needed.
- Assist patients with the implementation of treatment plans and follow-up instructions.
- Instruct patients on the proper use and care of orthotic devices.
- Provide exceptional patient care through respectful and courteous communication.
- Accurately enter and update patient information in our electronic health record system.
- Communicate insurance details and financial responsibilities clearly to patients.
- Maintain and organize medical records and correspondence with professionalism and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with practitioners to evaluate and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Adhere to company policies, OSHA regulations, and HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality and safety.
- Assist practitioners with various patient care tasks and orthotic services.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills & Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; an associate degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a medical assistant is required.
- Preferred experience in sports rehabilitation, fitness, healthcare, or a medical office setting.
- Certification as an Orthotic Fitter is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment with the capability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required.
