Job Summary
Lawler Family Dentistry seeks a competent dental assistant who will make the dentist’s office efficient and pleasant for patients. You’ll ensure excellent customer service and lift administrative and basic dental tasks off the dentist’s shoulders. Dental assistants should be well-organized and pay great attention to detail. You should be able to follow instructions and respect dental office regulations. We want you to be skilled in providing direct or indirect patient care and able to make office procedures as smooth as possible.

Responsibilities
- Welcome patients into the treatment room and make them feel comfortable
- Discuss the dental care plan with patients and answer any questions they have
- Take vital signs and accurately record medical history
- Utilize dental technologies throughout the office, must understand computers and software
- Prep sterilized equipment and make it available to the dentist for exams and procedures
- Assist the dentist during procedures and exams such as fillings, crowns, and dental surgeries.
- Post-procedure clean-up
- Generally chairside assisting of dentists and hygienists
- Properly explain each treatment and their options to patients
- Charting patients when indicated for proper diagnosis
- Take dental x-rays
Qualifications
- Empathy and compassion for people
- Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions
- Good communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- A willingness to learn and grow
Clinical and Administrative Qualifications
- Knowledge of dental procedures
- Ability to provide high-quality patient care
- Ability to take X-rays, make dental impressions, read blood pressure, etc.
- Ability to prepare and sterilize exam room and dentistry tools
- Understanding of common dental materials
- Ability to multitask and solve problems
- Excellent organizational skills
- Literacy in computers and applications
- Tracking and ordering necessary supplies

Doctor Laura specializes in her advanced knowledge of tooth extractions and offers CBCT-based endodontic procedures at our Hayward location. Doctor Ethan Lawler specializes in implant placements, 3D printing, and is taking continuing education classes to master full-mouth reconstruction cases by 2025. Doctor Lauren Poppe is eager to explore orthodontics and pediatric care and expand her knowledge with continuing education courses in the next several years. Doctor Duffy is excited to keep stepping away towards retirement and working one day a week at our Hayward location. All four doctors are excited to see if our office would fit you well!

This spring will be a significant year for our Lake Nebagamon location. Our Lake Nebagamon location is getting renovated, and we are expanding our clinic. After our build-out project this spring, we have seven patient treatment rooms and a functional in-house dental laboratory with a full-time laboratory technician available. This laboratory addition will drastically shorten delivery wait times and allow the application of knowledge needed to complete more complex dental cases.
