Job Title: Irrigation Installation Laborer
Position Overview
The Irrigation Installation Laborer works under the guidance of an Irrigation Foreman or Supervisor to assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems. This entry-level position is critical to ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, safely, and according to plan specifications. The ideal candidate is hardworking, eager to learn, and enjoys working outdoors in a hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Preparation & Setup
- Dig trenches, lay pipes, and backfill according to specifications.
- Gather and stage materials, tools, and equipment necessary for daily tasks.
- Irrigation System Installation
- Assist in assembling and installing irrigation components such as valves, sprinklers, and controllers.
- Cut and glue PVC or other piping materials following instructions and design guidelines.
- Ensure proper head placement and spacing as directed by project plans.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Identify and report leaks, clogs, and other potential issues to the Foreman or Supervisor.
- Help perform system checks, adjust sprinkler heads, and flush lines as needed.
- Equipment Operation & Care
- Safely operate small machinery (e.g., trenchers, pipe cutters) under supervision.
- Maintain and clean all tools, vehicles, and equipment daily, keeping job sites organized.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Observe all local and state regulations related to irrigation and environmental practices.
- Team Collaboration
- Work closely with fellow crew members to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively, listen to instructions, and proactively seek feedback to improve skills.
Qualifications
- Experience & Skills
- Previous construction or landscaping experience is helpful but not required; on-the-job training is provided.
- Basic understanding of using hand and power tools; willingness to learn more advanced machinery.
- Ability to follow directions, work independently when needed, and be a dependable team player.
- Physical Requirements
- Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. frequently, bend, kneel, dig, and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable performing physically demanding tasks on a daily basis.
- Other Requirements
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
