Position Summary
The accountant is responsible for supporting the Accounting Manager with oversight of LCHC’s major accounting and reporting responsibilities. These responsibilities include general ledger, accounts payable, cash management, investments, accounting software, payroll, grant and contract billing, audit compliance, and reporting. Reports to the Accounting Manager.
The hourly range is $25.75 - $28.85. Compensation will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and years of experience.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
General Ledger Entries and Reconciliation
- Prepare and post general ledger entries ensuring that high-quality, reportable data is being captured efficiently
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze financial statements for the organization and distinct lines of business for analysis and review by financial management. Investigate anomalies discovered and communicate pertinent observations to the Accounting Manager, Director of Accounting and CFO accordingly.
Grants Preparation, Invoicing and Analysis
- Work with Accounting Clerks and Accounting Manager to review Grant invoicing, thus ensuring accurate and timely billing of third parties and monitoring related accounts receivable.
- Communicate historical spending activity and spending patterns to internal Grant stakeholders to ensure appropriate expenditures are incurred in a timely manner according to approved program budgets.
- Ensures integrity of billing and reporting on the use of restricted net assets
Payroll, Accounts Payable and Cash Handling Support
- Supports the Payroll, AP and Accounting Clerks with functions relating to their areas of oversight including, hospital pay for payroll, weekly AP check run review and cash handling preparation for armored car pickup. Also responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining the Cash Recycler.
- Trained to fill in for clerk staff while on vacation
Audit and Tax Compliance
- Produces and arranges supporting documentation relating to LCHC’s annual fiscal audit, including the Single Audit as required by OMB A-133
- Supports the Accounting Manager, Director of Accounting, and CFO in preparing the annual fiscal audit
Required Skills or Abilities
- Ability to collaborate and interact with a diverse group of health care professionals
- Ability to organize, direct, prioritize, and delegate work appropriately
- Excellent administrative skills necessary for preparing financial, legal, and administrative tasks
- Excellent customer service skills
- Requires experience and demonstrated abilities for working in a multi-cultural setting

Required Knowledge, Experience or Licensure/Registration
- Associate degree in a business-related field and one (1) or more years working in a business environment, with accounting experience. A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Experience with Accounting Software or commensurate education
- Advanced knowledge and experience with spreadsheets
- Ability to work independently
