Position Summary
The Lawndale Christian Health Center Doula Program will support pregnant and postpartum patients of the clinic. Doulas will increase the physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of pregnant mothers and their children and thus increase LCHC’s capacity to show and share the love of Jesus by promoting wellness and providing quality healthcare to the local populations. The base salary range is $48,000 - $54,300 annually. Compensation will depend on a number of factors, including a candidates qualifications, skills, competencies and years of experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities*
- Meet with clients before pregnancy, provide continuous support through labor and delivery, and meet with clients postpartum. A tentative schedule entails:
- A case load of 10-20 women (with 2-3 women due in each month)
- Eight 60-90-minute prenatal visits with each patient
- Continuous support during the active stage of labor for patients while on-call
- Eight 60-90-minute postpartum visits with each patient
- Provide on-call labor support for all clients in the doula program on a rotating basis with the other doulas. (A minimum of one on-call week per month, including after hours, weekends, and holidays.)
- Co-develop a standardized protocol for prenatal visits, postpartum visits, care practices, and program systems in collaboration with other LCHC doulas.
- Facilitate centering and/or prenatal and postpartum education and support groups to increase continuity of care and relational support for pregnant mothers.
- Participate in program expansion efforts, which may include (but are not limited to):
- Training up local women from the community to be doulas
- Bolster partnerships with local church congregations
- Coordinate connections and mentorship opportunities with older women in the community
- Increase lactation support to nursing mothers

- Ability to implement high-quality doula practices in prenatal and postpartum contexts
- Ability to support mothers throughout pregnancy term with empathy and excellence
- Ability to lead group sessions and activities
- Ability to creatively develop protocols for doula program
- Ability to embody leadership skills through teaching, training, and encouraging
- Ability to collaborate and interact with a diverse group of professionals, clients, and community partners
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural, low-income setting
- Ability to balance a dynamic schedule between patient visits, administrative meetings, professional development, etc.
- Ability to be on call and have flexible hours as needed.

Required Knowledge, Experience, or Licensure/Registration
- Birth doula training and certification, and prior experience preferred.
- Certification with the Illinois Medicaid-Certified Doula Program will be required to fulfill job requirements
- High school diploma, or equivalent (bachelor’s degree preferred)
