Job Description

JOB SUMMARY :

Under the direction of the Controller, this position is responsible for assisting in the preparation of the monthly financial statements, year-end audit, and annual budgets. This position will be preparing and inputting journal entries, analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts, and other projects directed by the team. Communicate and interact with Department Heads, Purchasing, and other department personnel regarding the accounting and financial matters relevant to their projects and departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Assist with preparing monthly financial statements, management reporting and analysis to include monthly billing & closing reports.
Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts, quarterly review of accruals
Oversee all accounting procedures for accuracy and reliability, book monthly journal entries.
Maintain fixed asset and inventory module.
Inform management of WC / GL insurance exposure at end of year audit time and Superintendents WC field cost to office cost.
Perform Year End closeout accounting entries and documents for CPA
Prepare Business License filing and other tax support
Bank reconciliations, analysis of shop costs, accuracy of job cost reports, field Health, Vacation, and Bonus reconciliation
Weekly field / office payroll, weekly tax calculations and reporting. Quarterly / Annual state and federal Tax Returns. Yearend W2 reporting.
OCIP enrollments and reporting, estimate OCIP deductions, verify OCIP auditor deductions from payments, and keep current OCIP COI’s and Payroll deductions for WC / GL audits.
Handle all aspects of WC / GL insurance audits and auditors, communicate disputed audit amounts with insurance brokers and management.
Handle all aspects of the Union reporting and audits. Reconcile Union discrepancies regarding pay rates, if necessary, provide restitution payments.
Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the manager (i.e., special projects).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

Minimum 5 years accounting experience with a construction subcontractor, preferably with union / prevailing wage subcontractor.

Strong understanding and ability to apply GAAP.

Experience in preparing monthly financial statements and account reconciliations.

Strong follow-through on all projects; ability to multi-task and bring projects to timely completion.

Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and commitment to accuracy and quality, while meeting goals and deadlines.

Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Excel and Windows is a must.

Proficient in the use of Computer Ease / Deltek to analyze information and create various reports, preferred but not required.

Ability to collaborate with both the project managers and other department personnel in improving business processes and financial controls.

Effective written and oral communication skills.

Ability to work independently

Ability to handle various projects in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to interact positively and effectively in a team setting

Four-year business / accounting degree is preferred.

Construction accounting experience preferred but not required.

Budgeting, forecasting and analytical experience a plus.

Competitive Wages :

80,000 to $95,000 Annual Salary.
