What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Desktop Support Program Administrator position at Lawrence Berkeley Lab?
Lawrence Berkeley National Lab's (LBNL) Information Technology (IT) has an opening for an Administrator to join the team and oversee key functions of the Operations Desktop Support Program.
In this exciting role, you will manage inventory, issue computers, customer communications, coordinating with Workstation Staff, bulk purchasing of standard computer configurations, and assessing and purchasing customized computer solutions. You will also provide guidance and manage processes associated with the Refresh and Repurpose Programs.
What You Will Do :
- Inventory Management : Maintain and track inventory of desktop and laptop computers. Ensure accurate records and appropriate stock levels for operational needs.
- Computer Issuance : Manage the lifecycle of issuing computers to employees, including setup, distribution, and documentation.
- Customer Communications : Serve as one of the primary contacts for customer inquiries, providing clear and timely communication regarding hardware requests, procurement updates, and refresh timelines.
- Collaboration with ITSS Staff : Partner with ITSS Staff to ensure seamless coordination on hardware deployments, configurations, and troubleshooting.
- Bulk Purchasing : Coordinate and execute bulk purchases of standard computer configurations, ensuring cost-efficiency and adherence to Lab procurement policies.
- Refresh and Repurpose Programs : Understand and manage the computer Refresh Program, ensuring timely upgrades and replacements of outdated hardware and the reissuance of used systems in the Repurpose Program.
- Custom Hardware Solutions : Assess requests for customized computers, ensuring they meet user needs while adhering to budget and policy constraints.
- Recharge Program Understanding : Apply knowledge of recharge programs to ensure proper cost recovery and compliance with financial policies.
- Procurement Knowledge : Utilize familiarity with Berkeley Lab's procurement policies and tools (e.g., eBUY, TREX) to execute purchasing efficiently and in compliance with Laboratory standards.
- Act as a back-up for administrative personnel at other locations, as well as the Deputy Division Director's and Division Director's offices.
