The Berkeley Lab's Engineering Division is hiring an Electronics Research Scientist / Engineer to lead the Accelerator Instrumentation group at the Advanced Light Source (ALS). This role involves overseeing the LINAC, booster ring, and storage ring performance, leading machine physics shifts, and driving advanced instrumentation projects. The engineer will also support other electrical engineering and control initiatives at the ALS as needed.
What You Will Do :
- Design, manage, and innovate ALS instrumentation projects, including system upgrades and advanced accelerator instrumentation concepts. Integrate new tools and software using advanced programming techniques.
- Contribute to accelerator and electrical engineering projects requiring advanced control theory, software, and instrumentation.
- Oversee the Accelerator Instrumentation group, managing staffing, skill development, and operational reliability. Ensure training and development for group responsibilities and performance improvements.
- Provide leadership for electrical engineering and instrumentation projects across LBNL programs, DOE initiatives, and international collaborations.
- Develop a research program, secure funding, and publish results in peer-reviewed conferences and journals.

The expected salary for this position is $147,000.00 - $206,000.00, which fits into the full salary of $110,592.00 - $265,409.00 annually depending upon the candidate’s skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, certifications, and years of experience.
Electronics Research Scientist / Engineer Level 4 :
The expected salary for this position is $169,000.00 - $237,000.00, which fits into the full salary of $126,874.00 - $304,509.00 annually depending upon the candidate’s skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, certifications, and years of experience.
