This position supports advanced scientific projects and user facilities at LBNL, including ALS, ALS-U, DUNE, CMB-S4, and EIC. Applicants should have experience in systems engineering for complex, multi-disciplinary projects. The initial assignment may involve the ALS-U or DUNE projects.
As part of a collaborative team, the Systems Engineer will help develop and maintain systems engineering frameworks, manage technical baselines, requirements, budgets, and validation, and coordinate activities with other institutions and divisions. A background in accelerator or experimental systems engineering is preferred.
What You Will Do :
- Perform systems engineering functions for a cross-functional, geographically dispersed team of engineers and scientists.
- Analyze moderate-scope problems, considering various factors to determine appropriate actions.
- Apply judgment within defined procedures to resolve issues.
- Foster productive internal and external relationships.
- Ensure the systems engineering approach aligns experiments with science goals, translating them into technical requirements and specifications.
- Develop performance and interface requirements documents.
- Support integration through development of manufacturing, assembly, and test flows.
- Create test procedures in collaboration with subject matter experts to verify performance.
- Manage requirements and interfaces throughout their lifecycle using management tools.
- Communicate project technical status, issues, and successes clearly with teams and senior management.
- Coordinate presentations and technical reviews for committees.
- Collaborate with EHS and management to ensure safety is integrated into requirements and verification plans.

Salary : The expected salary for this position is $106,000.00 - $129,000.00, which fits into the full salary of $94,164.00 - $158,856.00 annually depending upon the candidate’s skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, certifications, and years of experience.
