In this exciting role, you’ll be essential to operations and business processes within a complex organization, driving project success through application of project management skills and expertise to support several research projects in the Building Technology Department (BT) projects in the Windows and Daylighting Group. In addition, the PM will manage aspects of the financial portfolio of the Building Technology and Urban Systems (BTUS) Division.
In concert with the principal investigators (PIs), the PM will formulate project plans / scopes, oversee timelines, manage budgets, develop staff plans and prepare reports for moderately complex research portfolios. The research portfolio is diverse and includes sponsors such as the Department of Energy (DOE), California Energy Commission (CEC) and other funding agencies.
There may be travel up to 10% or less of working time.
What You Will Do :
- Work in coordination with PIs and research teams, develop, coordinate, and execute project plans and manage portfolios for projects of moderate size and complexity, including : funding and cash management analysis, scope, budget, schedule, deliverables, subcontracts, and workforce planning.
- Analyze cash flow at the project level in conjunction with the Financial Office Analysts and maintain adequate cash for expected project disbursements; track funding allocations and needs from sponsors (Division Support).
- Prepare budgets and staff effort tracking spreadsheets and forecast future staffing needs. (Division Support).
- Plan, track, verify and document program deliverables, milestones, accomplishments for multi-year project data.
- Manage change management processes and implementation for unanticipated changes in work scope, schedule and budget.
- Work with PIs to communicate goals, progress, and accomplishments to key internal and external stakeholders; Develop and manage program status update reports and presentations.
- Support technical tasks for scopes of work with moderate scale and complexity.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses and create reports in response to informational needs from group, division, area, lab, or sponsor, as needed.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with teams across the Berkeley Lab organization (i.e Communications and Procurement specialists).

Salary : $125,868 - $153,816
