POSITION: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Coordinator Full-Time, Full Year
FLSA Status: Exempt
PURPOSE: The ECE Coordinator will range in responsibilities to include, but not be limited to: operational and administrative duties, instructional duties and staff supervision, communicating with parents and other community stakeholders, grant and certification compliance duties, communicating/coordinating with other coordinators and support staff, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in ECE or related field or an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children. Must commit to obtaining a Directors Credential within 2 years.
Experience: Two years experience working with children required.
Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:
SUPERVISES: LCSS and UCS classroom staff at the facility, including center assistant and other classroom staff as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Mental Concentration: Considerable concentration intermittently.
Interruptions: Occur constantly.
Physical Effort: Moderate physical effort in predominantly standing position. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Special Demands: Moderate travel. Potential eyestrain. Current PA Driver's License and access to a vehicle.
Special Requirements: History verification showing free of child abuse/neglect by authorities.
State and Federal Criminal History Clearances, Child Abuse Clearance and Sex Offender Clearance completed. Staff health assessment, to include Mantoux TB, completed.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties may include any or all the following. This list is intended to be representative.
- Remains up to date on information that pertains to the needs of the children in the program including Head Start Performance Standards, PA Pre-K Counts regulations and guidance, PA DHS childcare certification regulations and other applicable regulations and practices. Ensures compliance with these standards.
- Ensures appropriate staffing levels across the center each day, communicating needs with other coordinators and support staff when needed.
- Implements Keystone STARS requirements, managing both UCS and LCSS participation in the STARS system for the center.
- Facilitates DHS childcare certification application and renewal processes.
- Facilitates staff meetings and trainings and coordinates professional development, coaching, or mentoring opportunities on behalf of staff, as determined appropriate.
- Coordinates the responsibilities of the Center Assistant and Facilities staff, relative to the needs of the entire facility.
- Participates in and supports family engagement activities, including PCC childcare and activity development and implementation.
- Responsible for supporting and assisting the respectful inclusion of children with all special needs into the classroom community.
- Supervises education staff, coordinates and monitors screening, curriculum implementation, child observations, assessment and special services provision to children as required to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
- Meets with families, other content area staff, and community agencies, participating in home visits and parent conferences, if necessary.
- Approves payroll for facility staff as assigned.
- Overseas the receipt of and processes childcare payments.
- Monitors staff compliance with appropriate personnel policies including Standards of Conduct and facilitates completion of Worker’s Compensation and LCCAP Critical Incident forms.
- Is familiar with and utilizes multiple databases to manage information related to center operation and service provision.
- Conducts formal and informal observations of classroom staff in the performance of their duties and provides constructive feedback for each employee.
- Completes staff performance appraisals at set intervals, or more frequently, if needed.
- Participates in marketing and recruitment efforts for child enrollment slots and potential staff members.
- Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to children, families and staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintains a commitment to professionalism and continues own professional development so that decisions are based on knowledge of early childhood, family engagement, and health/safety theories and practice.
- Ensures a high-quality early childhood program experience for children and families, in keeping with the vision and goals of LCCAP.
- Performs other related work as required on behalf of the agency.
