Patient Accounts Representative
Position Description:
The Patient Accounts Representative works closely with the Behavior Health program staff and is responsible for the day-to-day procedures necessary to ensure that the front office operates in an efficient, friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
Essential functions of this position are as follows:
- Receive and greet patients, reps, visitors and LCHD staff in person and on the phone promptly in a friendly, courteous, confidential and professional manner (cheerfully communicate desire to meet their needs);
- Follow proper phone procedures: answer incoming calls by the third ring, transfer calls appropriately, relay messages as needed; and update phone messages;
- Ensure coverage of switchboard phones at all times;
- Type letters, memos, etc. and make copies as needed;
- Maintain clean and orderly office at all times;
- Copy and send patient medical records when needed;
- Maintain supply of toner for copier and fax machine and change toner as needed;
- Maintain adequate supply of forms needed for charts, patient information, etc.;
- Maintain absolute confidentiality in all matters relating to clients, customers, personnel, finances and other matters; and
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma;
- Minimum of 2 years of clerical experience (medical office experience preferred);
- Working knowledge of computer programs, such as Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to quickly grasp new ideas and new approaches; and
- Ability to interact with LCHD employees and the public in an efficient, friendly, cooperative, confidential and professional manner and to ensure great customer service is provided to everyone at all times.
