QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited LPN program. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a combination of education, experience, and training which provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job; experience in clinical setting preferred
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Maintain valid driver’s license and remain insurable under Employer’s vehicle insurance policy. Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse, licensed in the State of Ohio; BLS certification. Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team. Strong clinical skills and knowledge of medical procedures.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED (examples and not intended to be all-inclusive):
Modern office equipment; computer software (for example, Microsoft Office); medical screening equipment such as sphygmomanometer (BP cuff), stethoscope
JOB DUTIES
Essential Functions
· Assist with planning and coordination of services to be delivered as part of the Lawrence County Health Department’s nursing programs
· Under supervision of the primary care provider, provide patient care in clinics as assigned, including
o Take vital signs, review medical history, basic physical assessment, document patient observations and concerns
o Assist provider during examinations and minor procedures
o Following proper protocols, prepare and administer medications as prescribed by the physician
o Collect and label specimens, send to laboratory
o Accurately record patient data in electronic medical records
o Provide education to patients
· Administer immunizations to adults and children based on the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)and enter required data in ImpactSIIS
· Perform and/or read TB skin tests
· Assist with disease investigation, contact tracing, and data entry in the Ohio Disease Reporting System (ODRS)
· Attend related meetings and conferences
· Assist in meeting grant deliverables for existing grants as assigned by the Project Director(s)
· Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
· Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance
Other Duties and Responsibilities
· Answer phone calls, interact with community as needed
· Other related duties as assigned
Work Environment
· Work inside and (possibly) outside, if there are outside events
· Mostly sedentary work, light work
· May move around or stand on foot for long periods of time in order to accomplish job requirements
· Will be in contact with patients and blood-borne pathogens
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of: nursing; public health; community resources and services; interviewing; clinical testing
Skill in: data entry, computer operation, office equipment, some medical equipment; proficient in basic nursing skills (vital signs, injections, medications)
Ability to: maintain records according to established procedures; develop and maintain effective working relationships
