What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Support Specialist - Community Living Room (Overnight and Weekend) position at Lawrence County Health Department?
Responsibilities:
- Provide supports to individuals accessing the Community Living Room;
- Make referral to Crisis services when higher level of care is needed;
- Maintain resource directory, staying up to date on changes to local resources;
- Assist individuals in developing coping skills and strategies for relapse prevention
- Provide; education on mental health, addiction, and recovery topics;
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client interactions and progress.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED or higher education;
- Lived experience as a consumer of mental health or substance abuse services;
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Ability to work constructively with clients, other providers and the community
- Knowledge of community resources for referral purposes
- Understanding of the Mental Health Code and Confidentiality Act
- Ability to put agency policies and procedures to practice
- Ability to interact with administration, boards, public and staff in a friendly, cooperative, confidential and professional manner at all times
