Position Description:
The WIC Coordinator/Public Health Registered Nurse (R.N.) coordinates and oversees all aspects of the WIC program. The Public Health R.N. possesses excellent clinical skills and interpersonal skills to benefit the patients of the Public Health Clinic/WIC clinic. Essential functions of this position are as follows:
- Ensures that proper training and in-services are completed as needed for all employees of the WIC dept.;
- Ensures that all department reports are completed in a timely manner;
- Formalize documentation and facilitate outreach activities by networking with local constituents to increase caseload;
- Monitors caseload and reviews monthly grant reports and takes appropriate action;
- Assists patients to exam rooms;
- Administers the following duties:
- immunizations
- TB screenings
- Family planning
- Lead Poisoning Prevention
- Cardiovascular monitoring
- Lab draws
- Collects data
- Develops and implements an individual plan of care for each client based on assessment and nutritional need.
- Documentation in paper chart and/or Cornerstone
- Refers clients to appropriate programs as needed
- Maintains file on pending reports for follow-up;
- Secures all medications in locked cabinet before the end of each day (no pharmaceuticals are to be left out anywhere on the premises at any time);
- Attends meetings and conferences as directed and
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse License;
- Minimum Associates Degree in Nursing or related field;
- Requires demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with patients, other providers and the community; and
- Requires the ability to interact with administration, boards, public and staff in friendly, cooperative, confidential and professional manner at all times.

- Must be able to work in office environment
- Must be able to maneuver throughout the offices within your assigned department and within health department
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Must be able to complete assigned job duties
