We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecommunicator to join our team. Duties
- Receive and respond to incoming calls, utilizing effective phone systems to gather necessary information.
- Dispatch appropriate emergency services personnel based on the nature of the call.
- Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to determine the location of incidents and provide accurate directions.
- Conduct phone triage to assess the urgency of situations and prioritize responses accordingly.
- Maintain detailed records of all communications and actions taken during each call.
- Apply medical terminology and first aid knowledge when necessary to assist callers in distress.
- Operate GPS technology to track service units and ensure timely responses.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, fire departments, and medical services to coordinate effective responses.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dispatching or a related field is preferred.
- Strong phone etiquette with excellent verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with phone systems and ability to operate various communication technologies.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and first aid is advantageous.
- Experience with GIS applications is a plus.
- Ability to perform phone triage effectively under pressure.
- Typing proficiency for accurate record keeping is essential.
- Relevant certifications in emergency communication or related fields are desirable.
