The Early Childhood Specialist works directly with Public Housing residents, resident organizations, and service providers to coordinate comprehensive service delivery that results in the enhancement of the social and economic well-being of the Lawrence-Douglas County Housing Authority (LDCHA) residents. This position provides case management for LDCHA Public Housing families with children—assessing services being received in the household and making referrals to reduce early childhood and youth risk factors. This position facilitates the Full Circle Early Childhood Program and assists with the after-school Full Circle Youth Program. This position is funded through the Resident Opportunity and Self Sufficiency (ROSS) Grant Program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide case management which includes intake, assessment, education, and referrals to local service providers.
- Open client files and maintain file standards for completeness. Identify participant needs, define clear and measurable goals to address those needs, and connect participants with resources.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive network of educational, financial, employment, mental health, wellness, childcare, and other supportive services for participants by building relationships with community service providers.
- Coordinate with service providers to ensure that program participants are linked to supportive services needed to achieve self-sufficiency.
- Facilitate or connect participants to workshops on education, employment, financial literacy, computer skills, and other life skills including parenting education and after school programming for youth.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Experience with case management and early childhood programming.
- Basic knowledge of community resources and activities for low-income populations.
- Understanding of barriers for low-income families, especially low-income youth.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to be highly organized and self-directed.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with community service providers and organizations.
- Available to work Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm.
CERTIFICATE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of relevant experience required.
- Must have a current driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $47,000.00 per year
