The Assistant Superintendent for Administration, Reporting and Compliance is the Superintendent’s designee in his/her absence. Like the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent is a public servant to the Lawrence community. The Assistant Superintendent provides leadership for:
- Managing resources, operations and compliance to support the Lawrence Family Development Charter School’s (LFDCS) accountability plans and annual reports--these efforts include monitoring ESE accountability mandates, assisting with school operations for external relationships, partnerships and educational contracted services, expanding ESE grants including Title 1 and advising the Superintendent, Principal and Director of Finance on accountability, compliance, operations and reporting to strengthen processes and the School’s program capacity
- Working with legal counsel to guide the organizations’ compliance with regard to public entities and non-profit interactions and operations and assure the development and filing of necessary disclosures to mitigate conflict of interest
- Leading the process to prepare documents for Mid-Charter Reviews, Rechartering submissions and visits, Coordinated Program Reviews, Annual Reports and working with the Principal and Heads of School on matters of Corrective Action Plans
- Overseeing the work of the Data Operations Manager with regard to Student Information System and all electronic record keeping and reporting including transcripts, report cards and GPA reporting
- Assuring the confidentially of student records and monitor protocols to assure data accuracy and integrity to the Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education’s SIMS reporting
- Assuring the data submitted to the Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education staff rosters and work assignments and EPIMS reports is timely and accurate
- Supervising the management and movement of paper and electronic student records, develop systems for annual re-confirmation of students’ demographic information and forms, coordinate students’ transfer documents and complete annual tuition claim forms
- Providing strategic oversight of inventories and purchasing, securing quotes for procurement and accurately designate funding sources for all school district purchases
- Working with the Superintendent, Finance Director, HR Manager, Principal and supervisors to ensure consistency and accountability in internal and external program relationships, assessment and standardization of external vendors’ contracts and internal professionals’ letters of hire and job descriptions
- Assisting with accountability and consistency of communications, publications and websites
- Supporting academic success and budget expansion of school academic programs, summer school and after-school programs
- Working with the Superintendent, Director of Finance, Principal and other supervisors for planning of professional development of faculty for teaching as well as resources for faculty and staff for technology, project-based learning, partnerships and internships
- Overseeing the leadership academy for teacher-leaders to obtain additional licensures
- Supporting the development of plans for Teacher Career Ladders and other evaluation tools and development projects to enhance succession planning of teams
- Supporting the LFDCS Principal, Superintendent, Teacher Coach and Digital Instructor and Technology Coordinator to maximize the technology infrastructure and establish policies for the Learning Management System (LMS) for students and staff
- Providing short- and long-term logistical and strategic planning on LFDCS’ infrastructure and operations to the Superintendent, Principal, Heads of School and Director of Finance which align with available personnel and financial and program resources
- Serving as the Superintendent’s designee and working with the Board of Trustees, Finance Director, Principal, Heads of Schools, Special Education Director and Coordinators on Strategic Planning, mission adherence and organizational goals
- Serving as a replacement for the Superintendent and in his/her absence
- A conflict-of-interest disclosure will be required as per Massachusetts Gen. Laws, c. 268A, § 23(b)(3)
Skills and Abilities:
- A track record of successful program administration
- Skills with funding, program development, grant writing and management (especially state and federal sources) to support the school’s mission and accountability plan
- A strong background in K-12 and skills in parent education, Special Education, ESL and instructional technology
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment as well as the management of school operations
Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum of a master’s degree in education
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) administrator certification required as Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent
- Experience of five or more years as a K-12 public school administrator
- Ability to document success with carrying out complex administrative planning
- Budget experience from public school settings, proven project management and strategic planning ability
- Understanding of grants management
- Curriculum and assessment abilities to support and sustain rigorous academic programs and document success and funding
- Experience working with program development, competency-based instruction, flexible learning models and performance-based external grants and contracts
- Skills with contract development and management of external vendors which provide services to the school
- Ability to lead outreach and external relationship efforts, including communications, publications, media relations and public relations
- Knowledge of faculty development
Schedule: Full-Time, Full-Year Position. Exempt Position
