The Finance Director will lead the financial operations of LFDCS, including budgeting, compliance, audit reporting, and collaboration with other departments such as HR and grants management. The Finance Director will work closely with the Superintendent and other School Leaders to ensure smooth financial operations. The Finance Director will report directly to the Superintendent of the LFDCS.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for all financial management, fiscal administration and budgetary processes and matters, providing expertise on charter school budgeting, compliance, financial questions, and back-office services.
- Supervise and support Finance and Administrative Staff, ensuring adherence to Federal, State and LFDCS policies and procedures.
- Meet all Federal and State regulations and LFDCS policies with regard to Charter School financial management reporting.
- Develop and implement efficient financial procedures for the overall administration of LFDCS.
- Manage the Financial Management Information System (FMIS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
- Ensure timely delivery of financial reports and compliance requirements.
- Oversee annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with auditors.
- Onboard and train staff on LFDCS financial policies, procedures, and systems.
- In concert with the Superintendent, lead budget processes and monitor ongoing financial performance.
- Provide financial reports as requested by the Superintendent.
- Present financial reports at monthly Board of Trustees meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 5 years of experience in school business and/or administration.
- 3 years of management experience.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- A collaborative, can-do attitude with exceptional customer service abilities.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective time management and task management skills.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet creation, related software systems and analysis.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced charter school environment.
Preferred:
- School Finance Officer (SFO), CPA, MBA or Master’s Degree in Finance, Administration or a related field.
- Strong and productive relationships within charter school systems, especially in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Can begin training immediately upon hiring.
Schedule: Full-Time, Full-Year Position. Exempt Position
