Their core programs-Child and Family Treatment Center, Therapeutic Day School, Creative Therapies, Foster Care, Transitional/Independent Living Program, Workforce Development, and Community Wellness-have met the changing and complex needs of youth and families by not only becoming more community based, but also by developing more preventative programs that help curb violence in Chicago's communities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the supervision of the Office Coordinator or assigned designee. You must be reliable and hardworking with great communication skills. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with office equipment and procedures. Performs a variety of clerical and program duties requiring basic knowledge of computer systems and office procedures. Able to assist with preparing correspondences, bills, statements, and other documents. Stuffs envelopes manually, answers telephone, conveys messages to staff and runs errands. Requires a basic understanding of the young people/customers served by Lawrence Hall and participates in basic trauma training with the ability to utilize that training when interacting with young people/customers of the agency.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide reception relief for agency support staff
  • Assist staff with required filing duties for all program components
  • Assist with mail preparation, pick-up and distribution
  • Provide assistance to administration with photocopying and scanning
  • Participates in the development and implementation of continuous quality improvement activities as assigned
  • Assist with billing and payments while monitoring all foster care files
  • Assist with office inventory and provide administrative assistance to staff
  • Work with supervisors and staff to coordinate meetings and events
  • Monitor and oversee foster parent Ventra card distribution
  • Uses active and reflective listening skills and affirmations to demonstrate respect and empathy, avoiding negative and derogatory labels that foster disrespect
  • Understand that behaviors, responses, attitudes, and emotions are a collection of survival skills often developed in response to traumatic experiences
  • Maintain confidentiality of employees, volunteers, and program participants to provide a safe environment
  • Attend at least two trainings related to being trauma informed in a twelve-month period
  • Ability to work effectively with program participants and family members, employees and vendors in a culturally diverse environment to support healing and recovery
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma
  • Must have ability to demonstrate computer proficiency according to the needs of the position
  • Six months to one year's experience or training in an office environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of childhood trauma and prior experience working in settings with youth and families that have been exposed to trauma or experiencing traumatic stress preferred
  • Knowledge of youth development, adolescent issues, positive youth development/strength-based approach preferred
  • Personal vehicle or access to vehicle and proof of insurance
  • No history of child abuse or neglect
  • Ability to pass background and drug screen

Salary : $33,000 - $45,000
