Associate Litigation Attorney

Job Title : Associate Attorney

Reports to : Managing Partner

Compensation : Base salary negotiable depending on experience; discretionary bonus

Location : Baltimore, MD

FLSA : Salary-Exempt

Position Type : Full-time Permanent Position

Lawrence Law seeks an associate attorney to join our thriving commercial litigation practice in the Baltimore area. The successful applicant will gain direct, hands-on experience in all aspects of commercial litigation, from client intake through trial or settlement, and will assist with matters in state and Federal court, working alongside experienced construction, commercial, and transactional lawyers, and will have the opportunity to directly advise the firm’s small business clients on sophisticated legal matters.

Requirements :

  • Juris Doctor Degree;
  • Must be actively licensed in Maryland, and preferably in District of Columbia;
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills; and
  • Possess a minimum 1 year of experience handling general civil litigation matters. Recent Law School graduates will be considered but must have passed MD Bar.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Interviewing prospective clients;
  • Drafting pleadings and motions;
  • Handle court appearances, depositions, and trials;
  • Negotiating settlement agreements;
  • Cultivate relationships with the firm's existing and future clients;
  • Manage workload of litigation paralegal;
  • Meet firm’s established billable hour requirements; and
  • Report to senior attorneys.
  • Skills, Knowledge & Abilities :

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills;
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, and to work with and maintain confidential and sensitive information;
  • Ability to handle work assignments consisting of major legal tasks for which considerable legal judgment, experience and independent reasoning are required; and
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
