Pay Range

$113,790 $141,276 Annually for job level 320.1
$137,640 $170,904 Annually for job level 320.2

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We have an opening for a Cyber Security Analyst to provide advanced cyber and technical support for unclassified and classified networks, standalone systems, security systems, user accounts and access, and implementation of security controls. You will manage complex security plans and component configurations, complete self-assessments, and computer security projects. You will interact regularly with team members, customers, management, and sponsors to solve a variety of complex cyber problems in a timely manner. This position is in the Information Technology Solutions Division (ITS) within the Computing Directorate, matrixed to the National Ignition Facility and Photon Sciences (NIF&PS) Directorate.

This position will be filled at eitherlevel based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.

You will
  • Serve as the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) role as the author and owner of comprehensive cyber security document packages.
  • Collaborate with customers in the design of their computing environment and security management processes, as well as collaborate with NIF&PS Cyber Security Team with review and recommendations of complex cyber processes, procedures, policies, and guidance.
  • Research solutions and manage cyber-security related projects with a diverse scope over multiple environments.
  • Interact with users on security issues related to hardware, application software, and operating systems.
  • Perform IT equipment evaluations and procurement recommendations.
  • Inspect information systems to verify compliance and work closely with system administrators to maintain security and accreditation status.
  • Monitor and triage work queue requests.
  • Perform user account access management and monitor component compliance for various networks and standalone systems and manage unclassified and classified account approvals and process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the 320.2 level
  • Manage cyber-security related projects with a broad scope over multiple environments and provide highly advanced technical assistance to the user community for multiple classified networks. Communicate effectively with senior managers concerning cyber-related events, requirements, projects, and changes.
  • Develop and/or recommend complex cyber support processes, procedures, policies, and guidance.
  • Collaborate with customers in the design of their on-premises or cloud computing environment and security management processes.
Qualifications
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
  • Experience in information security, as an Information Systems Security Officer, or an equivalent role.
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge and experience authoring and testing system security.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and technical expertise with cyber-related tools for auditing, compliance verification, vulnerability testing, and continuous system monitoring.
  • Experience improving efficiencies through the implementation of process improvements or workflow automation.
  • Experience setting priorities and solving complex problems in a fast-paced, customer-focused team environment.
  • High level technical contributor or leader with expertise in system administration, computer networking, infrastructure architecture, cyber security, operations security, or another information technology field.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to collaborate in a team environment and document, present and explain technical information.

Additional qualifications at the 320.2 level
  • Extensive experience developing and presenting cyber or IT solutions to a senior management team.
  • Highly advanced troubleshooting skills to solve complex problems, such as through writing automation scripts.
  • Experience administering, troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and securing Windows and Mac hardware, software, applications, and operating systems.

Qualifications We Desire
  • Experience with LLNL, DOE, and NNSA cyber security policies, procedures, and implementations.
  • Knowledge of computer security concepts and practices for one or more common operating system (e.g., Windows, Mac, or Linux).
  • Professional computer certification (e.g., CISSP, SANS Certification, Security ).
  • Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance at time of hire.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
