Pay Range :
140,700 - $178,392 Annually for the SES.2 level
168,780 - $214,032 Annually for the SES.3 level

Job Description
We have an opening for an F5 Network and Systems Engineer . You will provide technical layer 7 application support and systems administration for information systems existing in a heterogeneous private cloud environment to solve a variety of moderately complex technical problems. This position is in the Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) Division within the Computing Directorate, supporting the Livermore Information Technology (LivIT) program.
This position will be filled at either the SES.2 or SES.3 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.
Business needs dictate that this position requires an on-site presence multiple days a week. Therefore, telecommuting options will be limited.
In this role you will :
- Manage a private cloud application load-balancing service that spans three NNSA sites to provide global and local layer-7 high availability, and application security services to enterprise applications, collaboration tool suites, databases, mission applications, services, servers, and core infrastructure componentry.
- Collaborate with application and service owners to help architect highly available and secure application / service load-balancing solutions and application infrastructures.
- Collaborate with program network & security engineers to ensure the F5 configurations remain consistent with the global network architecture and security posture.
- Leverage orchestration / automation utilities (e.g. F5 BigIQ, AS3, Ansible, etc.) for distributing and enforcing standard configurations, supporting patching, and upgrading new software and configuration changes across multiple sites.
- Provide systems administration support in both Linux and Windows server environments in support of ensuring proper security compliance, patch level, and adherence to our configuration management standards.
- Collaborate with management, customers, and team members to evaluate and recommend procurements of hardware and software in support of stipulated system requirements.
- Enforce security and systems administration policy requirements such as vulnerability remediation, and system build standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Information :
This is a Flexible Term appointment, which is for a definite period not to exceed six years. If final candidate is a Career Indefinite employee, Career Indefinite status may be maintained (should funding allow).
