Pay Range
6,410 to $7,780 Monthly
This position is under a step structure. Please note that the step placement is determined by your most recent completed academic year.
Job Description
We have an opening for Graduate Summer Intern in the Equation of State Materials Theory Group to engage in practical research experience to further their educational goals. You will work on multidisciplinary projects, such as development of classical empirical and machine learning interatomic potentials, methods to quantify uncertainty in properties obtained from interatomic potentials, analysis of large atomic datasets and use them to study the behavior of materials (high entropy alloys and metal oxides). These positions are in Physics Division of the Physical & Life Sciences Directorate.
Depending on your assignment, this position may offer a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You may have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.
You will
- Work on machine learning models and uncertainty quantification (UQ) methods.
- Develop codes to train and test different interatomic potentials and UQ models.
- Analyze results and provide weekly updates.
- Review literature in the field of study, document results and write papers.
- Present work through presentations and / or poster sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
