Key Responsibilities

Operate asphalt rollers to achieve proper compaction and finish per project specifications

Coordinate with paving crew to ensure smooth and consistent rolling patterns

Monitor mat temperature, compaction levels, and surface texture during operations

Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs

Ensure roller is cleaned and maintained at the end of each shift

Follow traffic control and safety procedures on active job sites

Assist with general labor or other duties as needed during downtime
Qualifications

Valid MA Hoisting License (2A preferred)

OSHA 10 certification (minimum)

Minimum 1-2 years of experience operating asphalt rollers

Understanding of proper compaction techniques and paving sequences
Preferred Skills

Experience with both steel drum and rubber-tire (pneumatic) rollers

Familiarity with breakdown, intermediate, and finish rolling methods

Good communication with foremen and paving crew

Attention to detail and awareness of mat conditions and timing

Willingness to assist with general paving operations as part of a team
Working Conditions

Outdoor work in various weather conditions, including heat and humidity

Long hours, early morning starts, and occasional night or weekend shifts

Must be able to sit for extended periods and climb on/off equipment repeatedly

Travel to job sites throughout Cape Cod and Southeastern MA
HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR WORK SCHEDULE
Our peak construction periods are typically in the Spring and Fall. Work is dependent on project-based needs, however a majority of our employees work 40 hours during peak periods, and as needed during off seasons. Typical work days begin around 7:00 am and finished by 5:00 pm.
