Position Summary:
The Dietitian will play a key role in supporting student health and wellness by ensuring that all meals served across the district meet state and federal nutrition guidelines. Reporting to the Director of Nutrition Services, the Dietitian will work collaboratively with food service staff, nurses, parents, and students to develop and implement meal programs that address diverse dietary needs, promote healthy eating habits, and align with the district’s wellness initiatives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assess and manage the dietary needs of students with allergies, medical conditions, or other special dietary requirements.
• Communicate with staff, medical professionals, and parents regarding food-based substitutes for students with disabilities or allergies.
• Collaborate with school nurses and educators to support student health through nutrition education.
• Assist in the evaluation and selection of food products to ensure compliance with school nutrition standards.
• Monitor nutritional compliance of school meals and analyze participation trends.
• Support the implementation of the District Wellness Policy and serve as a member and/or Chairperson of the Wellness Committee.
• Provide professional development to food service personnel on nutrition, special diets, and food safety standards.
• Promote sustainability and wellness by supporting efforts to reduce food waste.
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in audits and regulatory reviews as required.
• Provide outreach and education to students, staff, and families on balanced nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.
• Be available to support nurses and staff with immediate food or health-related concerns as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong understanding of nutrition science, dietetics, and USDA school meal regulations.
• Experience with medical diets, food allergies, and special dietary accommodations.
• Proficiency in nutrition analysis tools and meal planning software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in school or public health nutrition preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field.
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential preferred.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Dietitian in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Experience with school nutrition programs or wellness initiatives is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Proficiency in English; bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Pay Range
•$75,000-$85,000
