What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at Lawrenceville Veterinary Clinic?
We are looking for an experienced veterinary technician for part-time employment at a one-doctor practice in Lawrenceville. We are open from 8am to 4pm. We are not open on weekends or federal holidays. This is a privately owned, non-corporate clinic.
Applicants must:
- Be patient, calm, and compassionate with every pet
- Be professional in attitude and appearance at all times
- Be able to use gentle, safe restraint on dogs and cats; be able to lift up to 35lbs.
- Obtain patient histories and TPRs
- Perform diagnostic tests such as hematocrits, ear and skin cytologies, and run in-house blood analyzers. All fecal and urine samples are submitted to the lab.
- Obtain, appropriately align, and restrain for digital X-rays while adhering to safety measures
- Place intravenous catheters; give IV, IM, and SC injections
- Perform venipuncture and collect lab samples
- Induce and maintain general anesthesia while providing close patient monitoring
- Perform dental prophylaxis and obtain dental radiographs
- Prep and recover surgical patients
- Prep and sterilize surgical instruments and packs
- Intake and discharge surgical patients
- At times, perform client service duties such as greeting clients, making appointments, answering phones, entering charges, and processing credit card payments
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and professional atmosphere of the hospital at all times
Pay rate is negotiable based on work experience and skill level.
All records are electronic; we are a paperless hospital. All modern, digital equipment. Dogs and cats only. No walk-ins. Plenty of on-site parking.
