What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Technician position at Lawson Home Services, LLC?
The Field Service/Sales Technician (FSST) will interact with homeowners, the Production Manager and installation team members. This position combines both field service and sales responsibilities to ensure homeowners receive the proper support & information needed to make decisions about the necessary improvements to their home where health, safety or home comfort is suggested upon your inspection & servicing their equipment. You will uphold continued relationships for our contracts and continued business in the future.
Here is a sampling of what you might encounter on an average day, but as with any other business, our needs evolve daily.
- Completing Service Maintenance and checking all installed equipment.
- Changing filters.
- Cleaning dryer vents and sales of related safety items.
- Complete Radon Testing Service
- Suggesting a new purchase if warrantee is expired
- Keeping up to date on administrative responsibilities such as maintaining homeowner service logs and internal schedules, field notes to be utilized for reports and communication to the homeowner.
- Continuously update service records promptly to ensure proper completion and follow-up as required.
- Maintaining your vehicle, ensuring the DOT checklist is performed daily, the vehicle is kept organized, clean and everything is in place.
- Maintaining tools and test equipment and ensuring they are properly calibrated and in good working condition. Clean and put back where they belong in the truck daily.
- Identifying and participating in sales opportunities.
Skills You Need to Bring with You
From a technical perspective, our ideal candidate will bring the following skills & experience with them:
- Critical thinking and problem solving.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to communicate fluently with homeowners and should possess good homeowner service skills.
- Ability to interpret technical issues through the non-technical description provided by their homeowners.
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service all Lawson installed equipment.
- Self/Project Management skills. You should be able to manage yourself and the project, being self-motivated, organized, and efficient.
- Logical skills and ability to prioritize tasks, such as urgency, and/or site safety conditions that require prompt attention.
- Familiarity with mobile test tools and application of applied math to confirm values of data taken.
- Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices, and performance standards.
- Ability to work independently, or as part of a team, to meet homeowner and service requirements.
- Knowledge of Google programs: Gmail, google docs, Slack, Company Cam
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 65 lbs., climb, and meet necessary physical capacity to work in a heavy industrial environment.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required. 16 Hour Radon Course for Certification. We will provide the course; you must pass to do the job.
