Position Summary:
The Site Utility Foreman is responsible for coordinating and supervising utility work, ensuring safety precautions and quality standards are met, and resolving problems when they arise. They actively participate in and coordinate utility work, supervise field crews, order materials, and ensure project completion in a safe and timely manner. Tasks include scheduling, monitoring project progress, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
· Foreman works with, supervises, and schedules crew members; operators, pipe-layers, and laborers, to ensure each project is completed efficiently and profitably.
· Must be able to read and understand plans. Must have a working knowledge of sitework such as erosion control, clearing, earthwork, sub-grade, road building, final grading, and sod.
· Coordinates daily work activities, job site organization, reading of plans, etc.
· Organizes job site goals, timelines, and budgets.
· Maintains time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing
· Works with management to complete scheduling of crew, turning in time sheets, and verifying equipment is available on site.
· Effectively communicates any issues or concerns with work progress and maintains control of field operations.
· Orders required supplies and materials.
· Drives to various job site locations.
· Assists with general laborer duties as needed, which may include shoveling, laying asphalt, installing pipes, crusher maintenance, and other tasks as required.
· Assists with heavy equipment operation, if trained, as needed at job site locations.
· Identifies and analyzes procedures & developing new ones when needed.
· Clearly communicates production goals with crew.
· Ensures quality control and customer satisfaction.
· Personal timeliness and organization.
· Disciplined within all field operations and leads by example.
· Reports any poorly operating team members.
Required Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Valid driver’s license with good driving record; must provide own transportation to shop or work site each day (having your own vehicle Is essential).
· Strength and stamina to perform physical work all day. Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 lbs., push and pull up to 80 lbs., and stand or walk for extended periods of time.
· Ability to work in various weather and temperature conditions.
· Awareness of safety procedures and regulations.
· 5 years minimum experience with at least 3 years working as a foreman in roadway, utilities, & earthwork
· CDL preferred.
· Strong reading, writing, and communication skills.
· Courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, public.
· Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes.
· Overtime work required. Out of town/county/state work may be required.
