Position Summary:

As a Skilled Pipe and Utility Laborer, you assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utilities like water, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer lines, requiring a combination of physical labor and specialized skills. This role involves tasks such as digging trenches, laying pipes, and operating equipment under the guidance of a supervisor. The role entails ensuring efficient and safe work on construction sites. This is a physically demanding role that requires the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Maintenance:

· Assist with the installation of new utility systems, including water lines, storm water lines, and sanitary sewers.

· Perform routine maintenance and repair of existing utility systems.

· Repair or replace damaged pipes and fittings.

· Clean and maintain pipes, manholes, and other utility infrastructure.

· Excavation and Trenching:

· Dig trenches for pipe installation, using hand tools or equipment.

· Grade and level trench bases.

· Locate and mark utility lines before digging.

Pipe Handling and Installation:

· Assist in laying and aligning pipes.

· Cover pipes with earth or other materials.

· Install and repair manholes and other utility structures.

Equipment Operation:

· Operate hand and power tools, such as shovels, tampers, and vibratory compactors.

· Use laser grade / gps.

Safety and General Labor:

· Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.

· Perform general labor tasks, such as loading and unloading materials, and cleaning up the worksite.

· Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.

· Adhere to directions given by your supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Valid driver’s license with good driving record; must provide own transportation to shop or work site each day (having your own vehicle Is essential).

· Strength and stamina to perform physical labor all day. Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 lbs., push and pull up to 80 lbs., and stand or walk for extended periods of time.

· Ability to work in various weather and temperature conditions.

· Awareness of safety procedures and regulations.

· Previous experience in construction or excavation skilled labor required.
