Position Summary
The Paralegal supports the vision and mission of the Estate Planning Law Center (EPLC) by assisting attorneys in providing legal counsel to clients on estate planning, asset protection, elder law, Medicaid, and post-death administration. This role is crucial to the firm's success, as paralegals play a key part in case preparation, document drafting, and ensuring the efficient progression of client matters in alignment with the firm’s services and processes. The Paralegal will manage case files, communicate with clients, prepare legal documents, and support attorneys in delivering high-quality legal work. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with the legal team, assisting in the development and implementation of firm systems and workflows, and maintaining the firm’s high reputation through professional and client interactions. All law firm employees must always maintain confidentiality regarding clients, company interests, and employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
¨ Central point of contact for related case matters.
¨ Manages timeline(s) and sets expectation(s) to clients & team on each case.
¨ Handles high-volume of client communication including calls and emails.
¨ Drafting and correspondence to clients and advisors.
¨ Follow Up of cases to move them forward in a timely manner.
¨ Data & information tracking/entry.
¨ Organization & collection of asset information, statements, deeds, and company forms.
¨ Discusses asset and financial information, reaching out to professionals, clients, employers, etc.
¨ Enter all relevant information to the client’s asset/liability or funding table.
¨ Documents all the time related to the completion of the above-referenced tasks, if necessary.
¨ Is responsible for all dictation/outgoing correspondence and firm form letters.
¨ Is responsible for creating, modifying and maintaining all internal department forms.
¨ Drafts deeds, trusts, wills, powers of attorney and health care proxies through our software.
¨ Enter all relevant general information and meeting notes into the firm database.
¨ Enters any applicable attorney and paralegal time into billing/time tracking software.
¨ Calendars working within a time template and are responsible for meeting applicable deadlines and having work ready for applicable meetings.
¨ Provides a weekly status report to the team during the Weekly Team Meeting.
¨ Scanning, filing, mailing, faxing, etc.
¨ Actively participates in the required company calls and meetings and provides weekly reporting.
¨ Complete rocks, projects or tasks as requested by supervisor within the time frame allotted.
¨ Attend TAPER events and other networking/convention events as needed.
¨ Willingness to travel to remote law firm locations or to client homes, hospitals etc. when required.
¨ Adhere to company established core values.

Qualifications Required
Academic:
· Associate’s degree in paralegal studies is preferred
· Bachelor’s degree is preferred
· Prior law firm experience is preferred
· Notary Public is preferred
Skills/Knowledge & Ability:
· Above average administrative, clerical, and/or technical skills, and the ability to operate necessary office equipment and software:
Ø Computer, Telephone, Fax, Scanner, Copier, Postage Meter
Ø Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Publisher, Power Point)

· Type proficiently and accurately at a minimum of 35 to 40 words per minute.
- Knowledge, skills and ability to perform functions and develop administrative procedures and systems to manage all tasks at hand such as: Documenting information, Word processing (dictation, correspondence, memos, etc.), Data entry and verification, Managing files, Project management, Designing forms, training and/or marketing materials, and Drafting legal documents.
· Skilled at formatting and communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
· Ability to understand written words, sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
· Highly developed time management, organizational and prioritization/planning skills with the ability to multitask with clarity; facilitating several projects at the same time with the ability to monitor and assess one’s own self.
- Skilled at getting information by observing, receiving and/or researching to obtain information from relevant sources.
- Knowledgeable and able to evaluate information to determine compliance with standards.
· Professional level communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills.
