Position Summary
The Green Team will play a vital role in our events by promoting sustainable waste management practices at community races and festivals.
Members of the Green Team will take on responsibilities such as managing waste streams, ensuring proper waste sorting, educating attendees, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment for all event participants.
Major Responsibilities/ Daily Essential Functions
Waste Management
- Oversee all recycling, composting, and landfill waste within the event area.
- Ensure that guest-facing waste receptacles are clean and in good working order.
- Relocate waste from guest-facing receptacles to appropriate waste, recycling, and compost containers using a wheelbarrow.
- Make sure each receptacle has clear signage to guide guests. This will help ensure proper disposal of waste in the appropriate streams: Landfill, Commingled Recycling, Glass, Cardboard, and Compost.
- Engage in waste sorting activities.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe sorting area.
Professionalism
- Treat guests and staff with kindness and respect to guarantee a positive experience for all at the event.
- Work together with the Lay It Out Event team in a courteous manner while adhering to company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Passion for environmental sustainability and waste management.
- Willingness to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
- Capability to follow directions and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Availability for pre-event orientation sessions.
- Seasonal Work. Flexibility to work nights and weekends during the event season (April - October).
- Daily hours will vary between 7 AM and 10 PM, with team members scheduled for 6-hour shifts.
- Must possess the physical strength to lift, move, and sort waste materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Current Hiring Rate: $20/hr
Minimum Age Requirement: 16

Pay: $20.00 per hour
