Mechanical Assembly Foreman

LAYCO Electric Innovations, a well-established electrical products and skid-mounted equipment manufacturer is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Mechanical Assembly Foreman.

Job Summary:
The Mechanical Assembly Foreman is responsible for overseeing the mechanical assembly department's operations, ensuring that all assembly tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards. This role involves leading and managing a team of mechanical assemblers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining performance accountability. The Foreman will actively participate in hands-on tasks and coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth and effective operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and provide direction to all shop employees
  • Actively participate in mechanical assembly tasks alongside team members.
  • Demonstrate best practices and techniques to ensure high-quality work.
  • Develop team members through training, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Schedule and coordinate work assignments to meet production goals.
  • Monitor team performance against production schedules and quality standards.
  • Implement corrective actions to address performance issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of production metrics and report to management.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless production flow.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Promote the use of lean manufacturing principles within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Provide safety training and updates to team members.
  • Oversee quality control processes to ensure products meet customer specifications.
  • Address quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
  • Work with the quality assurance team to refine quality standards and procedures.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Logistics, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between departments to resolve issues and achieve production goals.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical assembly, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 45 pounds.
  • Requires standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
