Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience in operating Excavators and Loaders and will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of equipment in our material yards.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as Excavators and Loaders.
- Load and unload materials onto customer and employee dump trucks.
- Maintain the materials yard and scale house, keeping both entities clean.
- Create tickets for each load of material incoming and outgoing, accurately identifying driver names, truck numbers, and types of material.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations while operating machinery to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and any incidents that occur during operation.
- Work fast and efficiently so that truck loads don't get backed up.
Experience & Education
- Proven experience operating a variety of heavy equipment, including but not limited to Excavators, Loaders, Skidsteers, etc.
- Valid driver's license.
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is preferred.
- Medical Certificate is preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction site operations and safety practices.
- At least one year experience working in a construction yard.
Required Skills
- Ability to communicate with leadership and customers in a professional manner.
- Technically savvy enough to operate basic computer software.
- Safety-concious
- Willingness to learn and train on unfamiliar pieces of equipment
Working Conditions
- The physical work environment is outdoors, at a materials yard, and indoors at a Scale House. Physical demands of the position include operating, standing, traversing, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and working in adverse weather conditions.
